Abstract
Wireless Sensors Networks (WSNs) have become widely ubiquitous and have been deployed in many application domains over the last few decades. Classical approaches statically configure WSNs which makes altering and reconfiguring them dynamically a challenging task. To address this challenge, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies could be integrated into WSNs. We present a comprehensive review of some of the recently proposed AI techniques (2007 to 2021) that have been applied to WSNs. Furthermore, we also discussed the benefits and drawbacks of the (AI) techniques deployed in WSNs. Finally, we discuss future research opportunities that will enable scalable and cost-effective AI deployment in WSNs.
