Abstract

In this paper, we design a compact MIMO antenna with high isolation. The antenna covers 2.5/5.8 GHz frequency bands, which are allocated for Wi-MAX / WLAN applications. The suggested MIMO antenna consists of two identical F-shaped monopole antenna elements, which are symmetrically positioned on the top side of an FR-4 substrate. To increase the isolation between the two radiating elements, a T-shaped junction is added which acts as a short stub-loaded resonator (SSLR). To improve the impedance matching, different forms are engraved on the bottom. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has impedance bandwidths of 16.23% (2.32–2.73 GHz) and10.07% (5.56–6.15 GHz), with a mutual coupling of less than –19 dB. Also, the proposed design exhibits high diversity performance in terms of ECC (9.81 dB) on the entire operating band. Furthermore, the MIMO parameters like TARC and efficiency are also studied.
