Abstract
Mapping of external surroundings plays a key role in todays age where robots and drones are used to access areas where humans cannot be able to provide their services. Mapping methadologies have advanced significantly in recent years. One of the popular mapping methods used is to mount an ultrasonic sensors are mounted onto drones and robots along with suitable microcontroller. The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor is among the most popular sensors used in a lot of applications. The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor is mounted on top of a servo motor which is connected to an Arduino Uno board. The Arduino is programmed using MATLAB tool to record the polar plot of surroundings.
