Abstract
The development of new technologies requires research on novel functional materials. In recent years, controlling the optical properties of magnetic materials has been investigated in fields such as chemistry, physics, and materials science. This brief review surveys optical property tuning in molecular magnetic materials with an emphasis on cyanido‐bridged coordination polymers. In this article, particular interest is devoted to materials exhibiting drastic colour changes, photoinduced magnetisation, and tuneable photoemission properties. Additionally, synthetic approaches employed to prepare these materials along with the mechanisms of switching their optical and magnetic properties are presented.
