Abstract
Te<sub>3</sub>O<sub>3</sub>(PO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>2</sub> achieves a great improvement in birefringence under the synergistic effect of the highly distorted [TeO<sub>5</sub>] group and antiparallel [PO<sub>4</sub>] pseudo-layer.
