Aurivillius Phases Bim + 1Fem – 3Ti3O3m + 3: Synthesis, Structure, and Properties (a Review)

Abstract

The features of the synthesis, structure, and properties of layered perovskite-like compounds of the Aurivillius family in the Bi4Ti3O12–BiFeO3 system are considered. Among the issues discussed, the main attention is paid to the analysis of relationships among the distribution of cations in the structure, on the one hand, and the formation mechanism, stability, and functional characteristics of the materials, on the other.
