Abstract

We developed a chronic and severe hindlimb ischemia (HLI) mouse model for preclinical research on critical limb ischemia (CLI). This model partially reflects human CLI pathology in that it does not show spontaneous restoration of blood flow or expression of angiogenic genes in the ischemic limb. This novel model may be valuable for therapeutic evaluation of the angiogenic effects of CLI drug candidates.
