Abstract

Abstract Photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells, which integrate the advantages of electrochemistry and photochemistry, are making a great contribution to the synthesis of high‐value‐added chemicals and biomass reforming. However, oxidation of organic substrates by directly capturing photo‐generated holes at the solid/liquid interface faces the challenge of inefficient mass transfer and low selectivity. Recently, reactive oxygen species (ROSs) mediated PEC organic conversion has attracted much attention due to its high selectivity, homogeneous nature and controllability. This Concept will review representative applications of PEC organic conversion mediated by ROSs, and put forward perspectives and outlooks for the generation of ROSs.
