Abstract

Silicone rubber has emerged as a versatile material with significant advancements driving its application in flexible electronics and healthcare devices. This review explores the cutting-edge innovations in silicone rubber and carbon nanomaterials-based composites, emphasizing the unique properties that make it suitable for next-generation technology from the latest literature survey from the years 2019 – 2024 . In flexible electronics, silicone rubber’s mechanical flexibility, electrical conductivity, and thermal stability are highlighted, alongside modern manufacturing techniques such as printing technologies and layering processes. Key applications including wearable devices, flexible displays, and sensors are examined for their enhanced performance and adaptability. In the realm of healthcare, the biocompatibility and safety of silicone rubber and carbon nanomaterial-based composites are paramount, enabling its use in biomedical sensors and actuators. This review delves into applications such as heart rate monitors, pressure sensors, drug delivery systems, and prosthetics, showcasing the material’s transformative impact on medical technology. Additionally, the integration of silicone rubber and carbon nanomaterials-based composites with piezoelectric generators is discussed. Then, revelation of synergistic properties that enhance energy harvesting and device responsiveness, particularly in wearable technology. The review also addresses the technical and market challenges facing silicone rubber’s broader adoption, offering insights into future research directions that promise further innovations. This review underscores its critical role in shaping the future of these dynamic fields. It also provides a comprehensive analysis of the current advancements and potential of silicone rubber in flexible electronics and healthcare devices.
