Theoretical prediction of a non-Hermitian skin effect in ultracold-atom systems

Abstract

The authors demonstrate a robust non-Hermitian skin effect in spin-orbit-coupled fermions with dissipation, which has been implemented in a recent experiment. They also reveal an anomalous dynamic phenomenon named the dynamic sticky effect, which shares the same physical origin as the non-Hermitian skin effect.
