Abstract
The high data-rate provision through ultra-wideband (UWB) systems is desirable for the future systems which are usually limited due to the in-band interference, for which frequency notch antennas can be considered as a favorable solution. This paper analyses the design of a dual-band-notched UWB antenna and proposes a simple circular patch antenna with UWB monopole characteristics and of size 30×30×1.6mm 3 . FR-4 lossy material having dielectric constant and thickness of 4.3 and 1.6 mm, respectively is considered for substrate. The notch operation for WiMAX (3.3-3.7 GHz) and well-known WLAN band (5.15-5.825 GHz) is observed when the radiating patch is supported with C-shape slots, one for each band. Furthermore, the provision to configure the notch function has been provided through switches in the slots. The proposed antenna shows an adequate peak gain of 5.13 dB at 8.4 GHz. Also, the results demonstrate considerably good impedance matching for the designed antenna and in the entire band (3.1 GHz-10.6 GHz).
