Abstract
The window of a building is a pivotal constituent as it conserves the connection between the building's interior and exterior. High transmission is one of the foremost benchmarks for a window system however, this high transmission includes direct and diffuse. Except for the viewing obstacle, diffuse transmission has several other advantages such as, they offer uniform daylight and stopping glare issues. Currently, the most popular diffuse transmission dominant windows are prepared with aerogel, phase change material, polymer dispersed liquid crystal and transparent wood. In this work, these four different types of building window applications have been reviewed and their potentiality for future less energy-hungry buildings is discussed.
