Intelligent Communication Techniques for Smart Grid Systems: A Survey

Abstract
This paper presents a survey on communication infrastructures in smart grids. The base requirements of a smart grid can be defined as sensing, control technologies and communication infrastructures. The sensing and control technologies are operated using communication infrastructures and, therefore, the communication part plays a crucial role. Considering the requirements in smart grids, a survey on communication technologies and a detailed comparison between the different infrastructures are presented. Furthermore, considering the requirements, appropriate control techniques are defined for smart grid layers.
