Abstract

The authors use neutron scattering polarization analysis to extract the coherent and incoherent dynamic structure factors of heavy water with high resolution and in a wide range of scattering vectors. In the mesoscale, the observed decorrelation of the collective fluctuations hardly depends on the scattering vector, whereas in regions closer to intermolecular scales such independent mode coexists with diffusion.
