Abstract

ABSTRACT Collectors are an indispensable part of any vacuum microwave devices where the electron beam – so-called spent electron beam emerged from interaction structure – is collected. Although the first publication on depressed collectors dates back to 1940s, several evolving researches are still being carried out on collectors till date. The incessant publications from researchers all over the globe reveal the fact that this field has much more potential and vigor to be explored. The outcome of such intensive and diversified research has been in achieving several novel design variants in the geometry, different computer-aided modeling and design optimization techniques, innovative methods to counter/suppress secondary electrons. This comprehensive review has been intended to cover all the major research findings consolidating them at one place so that it could be beneficial to any new reader in this field, thereby further research progress may be accelerated.
