Key factors of industry 5.0-based organizational sustainability

Abstract

Organizational sustainability, social responsibility, and governance practices are increasingly important in achieving economic success, long-term sustainability, and overall social well-being. The understanding and transparent communication of organizational sustainability performance is a must to manage risks and identify improvement opportunities. Improvement in such aspects can be achieved through the application of the Industry 5.0 concept and its tools and methods which combine digital tools for supporting sustainable, human-centric, and resilient organizational development. By measuring organizational sustainability performance, target action can be identified in terms of prioritizing Industry 5.0 solutions that contribute to better performance. Therefore, this study provides a network and quality function deployment method-based framework that is eligible to prioritize and analyze which Industry 5.0 solution should an organization focus on to perform better on sustainability requirements. The sustainability requirements are defined based on the interlinked Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) indicators that provide transparent organizational communication and benchmarking. The QFD framework allows us to identify the cross-correlation and effects between the requirements and Industry 5.0 solutions and priorities, while its network-based analyses reveal further structural interlinkages to support the identification of the key factors of Industry 5.0 solutions. The applicability of the method is demonstrated through a key relationship exploration study.
