Abstract

The medical technology (Med-Tech) industry faces unprecedented challenges in procurement operations, including complex regulatory requirements, supply chain volatility, cost pressures, and the critical need for uninterrupted availability of lifesaving products.This paper presents a comprehensive framework for SAP Ariba strategic sourcing transformation implemented across a global Med-Tech enterprise.The initiative modernized end-to-end sourcing operations from supplier discovery through contract execution, integrating advanced technologies including cloud procurement platforms, optical character recognition (OCR), artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) analytics, and automated workflows.The transformation achieved significant improvements in spend visibility, procurement cycle time reduction, supplier collaboration, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.Through detailed analysis of implementation methodology, technology architecture, global operating model, change management framework, and quantified business outcomes, this research demonstrates how digital sourcing platforms serve as strategic enablers rather than transactional tools.
