Abstract

Problem-solving ability is very important for students because with students being able to solve a problem students gain experience, use the knowledge and skills already possessed by students to be applied in everyday life. The purpose of this study was to analyze mathematical problem-solving abilities in terms of student learning independence in the Circle material. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted in Muarasanding Village, Kec. Garut City. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The research sample is 4 students of class VIII. Data collection techniques are tests, observations, and interviews. The data were analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that students who have good learning independence have good mathematical problem-solving abilities, and students who have low learning independence have low mathematical problem-solving abilities.
