Abstract

In this study, we developed an effective method for converting lignin into useful compounds to replace fossil-based products. The dual catalyst bed was used to catalyze the resulting pyrolysis vapors over it. A maximum bio-oil yield of 44.058 wt.% and gas yield of 28.9 wt.% along with 26.52 wt.% of bio-char is achieved. The biomass product (gas and Bio-oil) was characterized using GC-FID and GC–MS. The dual catalyst bed showed a considerable effect on the bio-oil composition and oxygenates were reduced. The bio-oil exhibit a high quantity of phenols and aromatic. In the gas product, the hydrogen yield has been enhanced from 14.6% to 21.4% and methane yield was enhanced from 20.8% to 23.1%.
