Abstract
This article proposed a monitoring method for inter-turn short-circuit (ITSC) fault for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). This article analyzes the electromagnetic performance of PMSM under single-phase ITSC fault working condition. On this basis, a new diagnosis method for ITSC fault based on second ripple of <inline-formula xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">$d$ </tex-math></inline-formula> -axis and <inline-formula xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">$q$ </tex-math></inline-formula> -axis current is proposed. The presence or absence of second current ripple indicates whether ITSC occurs, and the amplitude of the second current ripple can be used to identify the severity of ITSC fault. The correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified by both finite element analysis (FEA) and prototype experiment.
