Abstract
Acetogenic bacteria can fix single-carbon (C 1 ) molecules. However, improvements are needed to overcome poor product titers. Butyribacterium methylotrophicum can naturally ferment C 1 compounds into longer-chained molecules such as butyrate alongside traditional acetate.
