Abstract

An unprecedented [Mn<sub>18</sub>(CO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>9</sub>] inorganic core and [Mn<sub>20</sub>] metal–organic periphery composed the largest homometallic single-valence {Mn<sup>II</sup><sub>38</sub>} aggregate with a four-shells matryoshka doll that displays a significant magnetocaloric effect (MCE).
