Sensitization of lanthanide complexes through direct spin-forbidden singlet → triplet excitation

Abstract
The direct S 0 → T n excitation transition in Ln III complexes is investigated, which is favored by heavy Ln III and halogen bonded to ligands. Yb III complex visible-shifted excitation and NIR emission are adequate for luminescent solar concentrators.
