<i>Ab initio</i> quantum models for thin-film x-ray cavity QED

Abstract
This paper provides a quantum mechanical theory of x-ray cavity quantum electrodynamics with ultra-narrow resonances, such as those provided by M\"ossbauer nuclei. The authors show how this result enables calculation of the effective level schemes directly from the cavity geometry, without the need to fit model parameters.
