Abstract
Security in Internet of Things (IoT) is major concerned today. RPL is one of the protocols used in network layer of IoT and vulnerable to different types of attack. DoS attack is one of the most common types of threat that can occur in all the layers of IoT architecture. This research work has studied the impact of selective forwarding attack on the IoT network by varying the number of malicious nodes and changing its position from the sink node and given a unique detection mechanism area wise by calculating detecting factor based on energy consumption and packet received.
